Based in Oakland, CA, Em Wade's artistic journey is a reflection of their personal growth and exploration. Their inspiration stems from the intersection of identity, spirituality, and the human experience, creating a profound narrative within each piece.
Through their work, Em looks to understand their queerness, religious up-bringing, the expansiveness of gender, and living with a disability. Em's work is deeply intimate and invites their viewers to know, feel, and be by utilizing all of what surrounds them- medium and otherwise.
With a focus on large-scale acrylic pieces, Em also incorporates texture and visual intrigue through collage, printmaking, and textile elements. Each work is a vibrant expression of identity and connection, encouraging a deeper understanding of the communities we belong to.
